India defeats South Africa in the T20 Men's Cricket World Cup.

In the ninth T20 Men's Cricket World Cup, which was co-hosted by the USA and the West Indies from June 2 to June 29, Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in the final match at the Kensington Oval Stadium in Barbados. 

After winning the toss, India chose to bat first and scored 176 runs for the loss of seven wickets, with Virat Kohli leading the way with 76 runs, Axar Patel with 47, Hardik Pandya with three wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah with 2.


South Africa lost by seven runs despite scoring 169 runs for eight wickets in the second innings. With 52 runs, Heinrich Klaasen led his side in scoring, followed by Quinton de Kock with 39 and Tristan Stubbs with 31. Anrich Nortje and Keshav Maharaj combined for four wickets among the bowlers. 


Following the game, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma declared their retirement from Twenty20 international cricket. After taking fifteen wickets during the competition, Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Tournament. Aiden Markram, the captain of South Africa, said following the game, "It is simply gut-wrenching." That is exactly what it is. 


Every player has experienced a unique trip. And it clearly heightens the feelings when you get that close, especially given the way the game played out."
